Misquamicut State Beach, Westerly, RI A large, very popular beach with 7 miles of shoreline and a great place to catch a wave. Lifeguards on duty daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. There is a "surfing only" section of the state beach for boogie boarders and surfers only. It is located near Chair 15 at the far eastern section of the state beach. The state beach has a large bathhouse with pay heated showers. Off the beach along Atlantic Avenue, there are a number of restaurants, snack bars, hotels/motels, and surf souvenir shops. Since the beach is south-facing, the waves get larger when there's a south wind.
